Wolf Moon 2022

Above is a pic of the Wolf Moon spell I did this month, as part of the Freya's Cauldron Moon Box for January.  She is doing a box for every month of 2022, and they are good, so check her website around the beginning of the month for each new box to appear.

It was a spell hoping to link and borrow wolf energies of courage and exploration for life.  I need this now, as I'm trying to get a new job, which makes me fearful and worried.  But I need to protect my own 'pack' with financial contribution, so I need to get on with it and try to be practical.  I'd like to say 'fearless', but I think that's a bit of a myth for anxious people.  More like: I am terrified, but I will do this anyway.  (After a while of procrastination, during which I realise, in fact, that isn't helping...I'd feel better if I just got whatever done!)

The oracle card of a wolf isn't included, and is from my own card collection, this one from Philip Carr-Gomm's and Will Worthington's Druid Animal Oracle - a really beautiful and reasonant deck, for me. I find I use it often, for meditation focus and in spellwork.  In this spell, I thought a representation of wolf, especially one I find so beautiful, would help the realisation of the work, so I added it.

Above to the right, the piled tarot cards is a spell I've been running over a year, maybe nearly two - the longest running spell I've ever done.  It's working; it's a protection spell, and lo, the dastardly thing hasn't harmed me or my family yet - so, cool! I'll run and replenish it as necessary.  Over on the Travelling Witch website, Avery Hart has an interesting blog post featuring really long running spells, here, and its worth reading. Her Academy is original and interesting too.  In terms of Jason Miller's concepts of Head, Heart and Hand in magic practice, she's often a hand influenced writer - as in, I think her magic suggestions aid results, not just understanding. Well worth a read.  As is anything Jason Miller writes.

The bit of a statue you can see in the centre is Hekate, my patron goddess.  She is like a slightly removed guide, who stands above everything, at the head of my life, with a torch, just keeping an eye on things.  A lot of people have quite intimate relationships with her, but my own current experience of her is more removed, which is fine.  She's sort of like a distant work manager you know has your back, but you don't see much - she's expecting you to run your own workload and trusts you to get on with it.  In case of trouble, she'll make suggestions if you ask.  And see how you go with them.  Then adapt them as necessary.

I'll let you know how the monthly moon spells go, I loved this first one. I needed it's focus.
